Ideas for decorating a victoria sponge cake?

Yeah, so i'm planning on making a birthday victoria sponge cake for my niece, but I need some ideas for decorating it...

I'm no expert when it comes to baking and decorating but I'd say I'm an 8 on a scale of 1-10, so don't make the ideas too crazy!

Thankyou xIdeas for decorating a victoria sponge cake?
Fairy cakes/buns :(cupcakes or mini cakes)

Use exactly the same mixture but pour the mixture into cake cases sitting in a bun tin and

cook for 15 mins at 180 degrees C.

Replace 25g of flour with cocoa powder for chocolate buns, a few drops of vanilla essence for plain buns, or why not experiment with chocolate chips and raisins, or even a few drops of natural food colouring for some crazy coloured buns!

Leave to cool - then the decorating FUN begins ... spread simple icing over the top of the cakes and add chocolate buttons, chocolate drops, any small sweets or hundreds and thousands.

Butterfly cakes: Use butter icing to make butterfly cakes - Cut a circle out of the top of the cakes and cut the circle in half to make wings. Fill the hole in the cake with butter icing and put a wing on each side.Ideas for decorating a victoria sponge cake?
Try a simple idea like for example if your nieces name was Alyson then you could write "Happy Birthday Alyson" on the cake with a cake pen (available from good supermarkets) after icing it. Also, you could get topping shakers (which include hundreds and thousands etc.) and maybe put a swirl or something on it.

Hope this helps you :)Ideas for decorating a victoria sponge cake?
I think that first answerer is trying to make money as a promoter or distributer. Strange. However you decorate your cake your niece will love it that you did this for her.

If you have access to any violets or other dainty fresh flowers, even from your yard (especially from your yard) you could try placing the blossoms only on top of the icing right before presenting. That would be cute.
After you ice it, you can put some little puffs with a pastry bag (I guess that's how you call them?) all around the surface, and then even give it a nice touch with 2 small natural flowers in one of the corners.... another nice way to decorate a cake is with a small chocolate shaped into some nice figure (a heart, etc.) or long thin wafers with creamy filling cut in halves.

Mine?
